Dairy Herd Manager job - East Ayrshire

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Dairy Herd Manager. Our farm is based in Ochiltree, East Ayrshire and operates across 3 units, milking 400 Holstein Friesian cows through a newly installed 50 point rotary parlour. This full-time role involves managing the day-to-day tasks on a busy dairy farm.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the daily operations of the dairy farm.
2. Oversee dairy and young stock management.
3. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
4. Work as part of a team and adapt to various tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Experience in dairy and young stock management (ideally 3 years minimum).
2. Strong computer, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
3. AI experience helpful but not essential.
4. Foot trimming preferred but not essential.
5. Must work well as part of a team and be adaptable with a sense of humor.

Job Length: Permanent

Start Date: 3/03/2025

Pay: Dependent on experience

Hours: Full time Monday to Friday, working every 3rd weekend (discussed with the applicant)

Other Information: Family-run farm with a well-established team. Applicant must work well as part of a team as well as individually. The farm has its own silage equipment (Wagons) and manages approximately 900 acres per year. Tractor work may be required during silage seasons. Applicants must have experience working on a dairy farm and with large numbers of cattle. References will be required.
