Cytotechnologist

Job Description Summary

Under the general direction of the Medical Director and in conjunction with the Chief of Pathology, this position reports to the manager of Pathology Services and will be responsible for screening non-gynecological cytology slides within established guidelines and maintaining equipment needed to process and microscopically screen all specimens received for cytological examination.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Preparing slides by staining samples

2. Using microscopes to examine cellular samples

3. Evaluating samples while following laboratory protocols

4. Calibrating, troubleshooting, checking and maintaining microscopes and other laboratory equipment

5. Entering diagnostic information into the computer system

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education – Preferred

Baccalaureate Degree in a related science and completion of an accredited program in cytology preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

Up to two years directly related work experience preferred.

Required Certifications

CT (ASCP) - Cytotechnologist
