Job description

An experienced Cyber Security Analyst with a strong passion for threat analysis and a proven ability to assess and respond to security incidents. Experience in the mining industry is highly preferred but not mandatory. Excellent communication, presentation, teamwork, and adaptability skills are essential. You must have at least 5 years of experience in a similar Cyber Security Analyst role.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse threat intelligence feeds, identify relevant threats to Iluka, and implement appropriate countermeasures.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of security alerts from various sources (e.g., SIEM, EDR, firewalls, email gateways).
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents, including phishing attacks, malware infections, and data breaches.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and assist in remediation efforts (e.g., patch management, configuration changes).
  • Monitor and analyse network traffic for suspicious activity.
  • Review and analyse security logs to identify and investigate anomalies.
  • Maintain and improve security controls and processes, such as access controls, encryption, and endpoint protection.
  • Stay abreast of emerging cyber threats and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of security policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to ensure comprehensive security measures.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and recommend improvements to security controls.

Required Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Cyber Security Analyst role.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection / prevention systems (IDS / IPS), endpoint detection and response (CrowdStrike), SIEM (e.g., Splunk), and cloud security solutions.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems and command line interfaces.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest cyber security trends and technologies.
  • Experience with threat hunting and digital forensics.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CEH).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and threat detection.
  • Experience with cloud security platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with industry frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, MITRE ATT&CK).
