Qualifications

Job Description:

Due to increased global growth in the business, we are seeking a Customs Coordinator to be part of our Logistics Team within the Heathrow Office of ALPI UK Ltd. The role is to assist in areas of customs, directing and supporting multiple parties to ensure timely clearance of goods.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 08.30 hours – 17.30 hours – one-hour unpaid lunch

Salary: £25,000.00 - £30,000.00 per annum (Depending on experience)

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Customs manager in the execution of their duties to support the Head of Customs compliance and Managing Director’s vision of the company to become more competitive and profitable.
  2. Understand and execute the departments vision of good business development in order to successfully move Customs products.
  3. Complete all Customs Import activities correctly and on time including financial, legal and invoicing transaction.
  4. Correctly complete all customs import/export CDS declarations in line with UK HMRC regulations.
  5. Ensure all operational activities are completed on time.
  6. Immediately report any amendments to the customs declaration forms to line manager.
  7. Complete ad-hoc and spot checks on customer entries and submit reports to line manager weekly.
  8. Always maintain and utilise the operational system: Descartes.
  9. Ensure all Import Duties/VAT is charged correctly upon invoicing and collect any monies due in line with SOPs.
  10. Maintain regular communication with sales teams reporting new sales leads and handover of shipments.
  11. Always work compliantly within the confines of Company SOP.
  12. Always maintain excellent customer and inter-departmental relationships giving regular feedback to line manager.
  13. Follow up late customer payments in conjunction with credit control.
  14. Communicate quotations to the line manager/sales team within two hours of receipt and ensure all quotations are recorded on the system in one format.
  15. Implement and improve new efficiencies in customer workflow in conjunction with line manager.
  16. Ensure all reports are generated by given deadlines and handed to line manager.
  17. Before release, ensure all goods under Alpi’s Deferment account are approved for delivery via accounts and/or line manager.
  18. Accurately complete all invoicing within 48 hours of activity.
  19. Ensure insurances are charged correctly and any insurance claims are handed to line manager without delay.
  20. Provide holiday and sickness cover as required.
Skills, Experience and Competencies:
  1. Working experience of Exports/Imports & Customs Compliance and regulations (at least 2 years’ experience).
  2. Knowledge of customs requirements and formalities with particular focus on UK & EU imports.
  3. Experience in road transport, logistics or haulage (Desirable but not essential).
  4. Working knowledge of the CDS system both Imports and Exports.
  5. Knowledge of transit procedures and ETSF (Desirable but not essential).
  6. HMRC amendment and reclaim experience.
  7. Proficient with Microsoft packages especially MS Excel and other MS packages.
  8. Must be able to prioritise and organise own workload with attention to detail.
  9. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  10. Must be flexible with their working hours – occasional weekend work based on volume.
