Job description

Customer Team Leader
Location: Railway Terrace, Penshaw, Houghton le Spring, DH4 7JG
Pay: £13.32 per hour
Contract: 24 hours per week + regular overtime, permanent, part time
Working pattern: varied shifts including early mornings (from 5:45am), afternoons, late evenings (until 11pm) and weekends, to be discussed at interview.
Full, paid training provided.
You must be aged 18 or over to be a customer team leader at Co-op, as you’ll need to authorise age-related sales.

We’re looking for Customer Team Leaders to join our team at Co-op.

As a Customer Team Leader, you’ll be part of a friendly team that’s dedicated to helping our customers. We’ll look to you to help lead the store team – coaching and supervising our Customer Team Members and deputising for the Store Manager, while also delivering great customer service and performing a wide range of other tasks around the store like re-stocking shelves and cleaning up spillages.

What you’ll do
  • Provide friendly, welcoming, and helpful service every day, often taking ownership for managing the store and handling challenging situations.
  • Develop your team's capabilities through coaching and training, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone's voice is valued and respected.
  • Ensure that the store remains safe, legal, and fully operational.
  • Manage diligence checks and stock accuracy to enhance the shopping experience for our customers.
  • Support your store manager by deputising when they’re not working and delivering a variety of HR processes.
  • Lead the way when introducing new products and services in your store – work closely with your team to implement change and encourage open and honest feedback.
  • Build relationships and get involved in your local community, supporting your Store Manager with the delivery of the local Co-op community plan.
