Brief Description
Provide a first point of contact for all internal customer queries in regards to the procurement of goods and services across multiple Network Rail applications.

About The Role

Role: Customer Service Assistant
Vacancy Type: Full-time
Duration: 12-month secondment with the potential to be extended
Salary: Band 6 (£23,000)
Location: The Quadrant: Milton Keynes
Interview Dates: WC 24th February 2025

This role is in our Procurement Operations team which sits within the Route Services Commercial and Procurement function. As a Customer Service Assistant, you play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless and efficient operation of the entire procurement process, from supplier creation to order processing. You will provide exceptional service to our customers, supporting them with the use of the iProcurement system whilst working closely with various departments to ensure smooth procurement operations. If you are interested in furthering your career within Commercial & Procurement, you will receive detailed training and gain valuable insights to help you advance in this field.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong interest in procurement and commercial processes
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills to support stakeholders
  • To be proficient in handling multiple tasks simultaneously

Essential

  • Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage workload effectively, both individually and as a team
  • Good knowledge and experience of managing multiple work streams to ensure priority is correctly identified
  • IT Literate

Desirable

  • Previous Customer Service Experience
  • An understanding of procurement processes and hierarchies
  • Awareness of Network Rail’s operating and logistic processes
