Position Title: Customer Quality Engineer

Duration: Contract

Location: Halewood (with occasional travel to the West Midlands)

Division: Vehicle Engineering

Position Description:

  • UID - EV-610; EV-609; EV-608 Vehicle NVH is a key technical department within the product creation process, leading the engineering from concept to customer.
  • You will give the vehicles their unique characteristics, ensuring the many aspects of refinement required to achieve the customer expectations for all the Clients' programmes.
  • It is all part of creating vehicles that delight customers and set us apart from the competition.
  • The NVH Attributes Refinement Group encompasses 3 distinct teams; Prevention, Delivery and In-service Performance.
  • Its responsible for strategy, methods, targets, testing, detection and resolution, specifically for the attributes of Squeak & Rattle and Water and Air Ingress across the full vehicle, systems and components.
  • Operating from the very early phase of a vehicle programme, working cross functionally throughout design, development, manufacturing, launch until end of product life cycle.
  • Your primary role will involve addressing and resolving attribute concerns related to S&R, body sealing and water leaks.
  • You will lead the issue investigation process and establish root causes through close collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, and suppliers.
  • A hands-on approach is essential during investigations, following 8D methodology, including the ability to interrogate drawings, models, and take measurements from production.

Skills Required:

  • Automotive/Engineering degree or equivalent automotive experience
  • Ability to plan work/events and organise detailed activity to deliver the outcomes
  • Demonstrable problem solving experience e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving

Experience Required:

  • Automotive/Engineering degree or equivalent automotive experience
  • Demonstrate potential to strategize work streams based on the Business Plan
  • Ability to plan work/events and organise detailed activity to deliver the outcomes
  • Ability to lead large projects/resolve complex issues through leading cross functional teams
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrable problem solving experience e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving
  • Good experience of quality tools (8D, Fish bone, FTA, PDCA, 5Y etc)
  • Ability to analyse large data that translates into next actions/use of MS Office applications
  • Ability to plan work in 2 weeks sprints, organise work based on priority and deliver against plan
  • Being resourceful with hands-on complex problem solving capability
  • Highly motivated, fast learner and ability to easily handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly (Have a Growth Mind-set)
  • Demonstrate good negotiation skills to promote issues to next phase of investigation
  • A proactive and personable nature to engage with cross functional areas.
  • Knowledge and understanding of automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to deliver presentations to work groups and senior management
  • A full UK driving licence

Experience:

  • Automotive Engineering Degree/Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience of New Model Launch or Vehicle Manufacturing operations
  • Technical knowledge of vehicle engineering related to Squeaks & Rattle or Water Ingress
  • Active experience of working to Agile methodologies (JIRA)
  • Experience of working with the following company toolsets; Tableau, AIMs, IQM, Flags, IDS, TGW
  • A working knowledge of Trim & Final, BIW, sealing systems
  • A working experience of CAD or Digi-buck.
  • Knowledge of material compatibility and joining technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety/risk assessments
