Temporary Customer Experience Admin Officer

Key Requirements:

  1. Must have experience working in a library.
  2. Experience of working in a front-line position responding to the needs of the public.
  3. Experience of supervising and developing people to deliver desired outcomes and services.
  4. Experience of working with different IT applications in a frontline environment.
  5. Understanding of how libraries contribute to community and council priorities.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communications skills with an ability to digest information and present it appropriately to different levels of people.

As a frontline representative of the library, the successful candidate will empower customers to access a wide range of services with confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver an outstanding level of customer service, providing friendly and professional support to all library users.
  2. Enable and support customers in accessing library resources and digital services independently.
  3. Ensure the smooth daily running of the library, using initiative to resolve issues—especially when lone working.
  4. Recruit, supervise, and support library volunteers and security staff, helping them contribute positively to the service.
  5. Actively contribute to the commercial and promotional success of the library by identifying income opportunities, partnerships, and events.
  6. Support the achievement of performance targets through innovative service delivery and community engagement.
  7. Assist in the organisation of events, activities, and outreach initiatives that promote library usage and inclusivity.
  8. Maintain and monitor stock, ensure the library environment is safe, tidy and welcoming, and that resources are accessible.
