Job Title: Curriculum Manager in Automotive

Location: Highbury Campus, Portsmouth

Salary: up to £42,579.53 FTE +£4,000 allowance

Hours: 35 Hours per week, 52 Weeks per year, Full-Time, Permanent (850 teaching hours with 288 hours remission)

About The Role:

The Curriculum Manager in Automotive will oversee the development and management of our vocational course based at the Highbury Campus. The role centres on managing the excellent delivery of learning & support for both students and staff. You will monitor student progress, evaluate teaching methods and implement quality improvement strategies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, student outcomes and success. You will work closely with the college to design and update curriculum content, ensuring it meets regulatory standards, industry requirements and educational objectives. This includes integrating current curriculum content, technologies and research into the curriculum. Additionally, you will collaborate with external partners such as local businesses and universities to stay abreast of industry trends and ensure courses are relevant to the destinations of our students.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of academic staff in the automotive department, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to ensure effective teaching and robust student support.
  • Cultivate a positive and collaborative team culture that encourages innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement in delivering the automotive curriculum and enhancing student engagement.
  • Coordinate and implement student support initiatives, including tutoring programs, academic advising, and access to learning resources.
  • Utilize student feedback mechanisms, such as surveys and focus groups, to collect actionable insights for improving teaching practices, curriculum design, and student support systems.
  • Collaborate with college leadership to ensure the automotive curriculum aligns with regulatory standards, industry needs, and the latest advancements in automotive technology and practices.
  • Integrate modern automotive technologies, industry best practices, and innovative research into curriculum content to keep it relevant and forward-thinking.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance teaching methods, broaden access to learning, and improve student outcomes in automotive programs.
  • Effectively manage departmental resources to support curriculum development and high-quality delivery.
  • Ensure the automotive programs maintain compliance with educational standards and accreditation requirements.
The Candidate:

  • Ideally have relevant degree and/or experience of delivering Automotive qualifications.
  • Experience in curriculum development, quality improvement and management in an educational setting.
  • Experienced Teacher.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills to lead curriculum development teams and manage resources effectively.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to enhancing students' learning and success.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking mindset to drive continuous improvement in curriculum design and implementation.
  • Punctual and consistent.
