We are recruiting for our great client positioned in Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex.

We are seeking personable and outgoing candidates, who would relish the opportunity to Work/Travel and, after training, be confident in presenting a short PowerPoint presentation on board Cruise ships in relation to Public Health (Pest Control) and be able to undertake visual inspections of various departments.

Salary: £27,500

Training and Place of Work: Shoreham by Sea

Title of Position When Trained: IPM Consultant (Integrated Pest Management Consultant)

Shoreside Office Working Hours: 10am to 3pm Mon to Thurs, 10am to 2pm on a Friday (Estimated office working hours 24 hrs/week)

Offshore Travel: Worldwide onboard Cruise Ships on demand (2 to 5 days on board)

We offer 3 months paid training which will involve the following:

  • Full training on how to be confident in presenting a short video presentation to a group of people on board "Cruise Ships" worldwide.
  • Full training on the topic of "Pest Control" Prevention/Awareness/Action (no previous knowledge of Pest Control required, although it would be an asset).
  • Full training on how to conduct inspections of departments on board, in relation to "Pest Control".
  • Full training on board, initially shadowing an experienced work colleague from the office shoreside.
  • Full training on report writing, file completing, and transferring of information to the "Public Health department" (on board Public Health office, and externally shoreside via emailing and messaging).
  • Full training on COSHH best practice (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
  • Full training on travel arrangements made on your behalf to ensure your safe travel and arrival to Cruise ships on time.
  • Full training and agenda arrangements made for you once on board, i.e. who do you report to on arrival and your schedule for the next few days.

The Successful Candidate will need to accept full training and, after 3 months, feel 100% comfortable in delivering the following:

  • A number of short Pest Control PowerPoint presentations to a small audience on board a cruise ship.
  • Be comfortable conducting Pest Control inspections and audits in specific departments on board.
  • Be able to fill report forms and instruct the Public Health department onboard the ship of your findings during audits.
  • Be prepared to be on board a cruise ship for between 2 and 5 days a week at a time (after each audit returning to base Shoreham-by-Sea).
  • When audits are complete, travel home in time for preparation of the next cruise ship presentation and inspection.
  • NB: Long standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, under counter viewing during inspections, physical ability: a level of physical ability is required to perform duties effectively, such as standing, walking, kneeling, bending, carrying personal luggage and company equipment, and safely navigating uneven and potentially slippery surfaces, gangways, and ladders.

Whilst on Board: The areas that will be inspected are a selection of the following departments Pest Control areas:

  • Laundry / Laundry storage room
  • Main Kitchens/ Galleys/ Pot washing and glass washing areas
  • Restaurant areas/ Storage rooms
  • Chemical storage locations, especially near food preparation areas
  • Bar areas/ back bar and storage areas
  • Garbage/Recycle- Disposal areas
  • Fridge/ freezer area
  • Dry/ Perishable goods area
  • Rope docking locations- rope section on board
  • Entry points for all produce arriving on board

Training on the SIGNS of Infestation and Eradication of the following Pests: Please be advised that you will be inspecting and reporting and NOT personally eradicating pests.
