Job overview

With my team, I am developing my workforce to create an innovative and fit for the future team and I am delighted to be able to recruit a cross site professional lead for Advanced Critical Care Practitioners to join me and the existing Critical Care team.
The post provides an opportunity for an exceptional individual to work with the rest of the Senior Nursing and Medical Teams to develop new ACCPs, build on the established education program for these roles as well as working clinically and leading on Research. In this role there is capacity for this individual to be innovative in delivering substantial developments to the Critical Care workforce.
We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced leader who can demonstrate strong clinical and strategic leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries as well as create an enviable culture of caring and compassion.

Main duties of the job

• To be an expert practitioner in all aspects, extending scope of practice and developing an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability in the provision of such care.
• To work clinically as a senior ACCP.
• To be responsible for leading, coordinating and developing a high quality advanced critical care practice service across the Trust.
• To work in partnership with the other areas in the Trust in order to develop a strategic approach for the provision of services.
• In line with the Trust’s commitment to Clinical Governance, will develop, lead and implement standards for clinical audit and evaluate clinical effectiveness.
• To work in collaboration with academic institutions to lead on education, research and practice.
• To lead on developments and innovations between the Trust and relevant external agencies, locally, nationally and internationally.
• To contribute to the Trust’s nursing and allied health professional agenda.
• To promote Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Foundation Trust as national leaders in speciality.
• To promote the development of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation Trust as an international centre of excellence.
• To have a leading role in the development of multi-professional research.
• To evolve the role of ACCP Professional Lead and ACCP Service, proposing and negotiating extension of practice as efficiency and effectiveness requires.

Person specification

Qualifications and Education

• Educated to PhD level or working towards.
• Leadership Qualification.
• Critical Care Qualification.
• Qualified and Registered ACCP with at least 3 years post qualification experience.

Experience

• Previous leadership experience in critical care.
• Previous success in leading and delivering change.
• Highly developed communication skills.
• Previous experience in project management.

Skills

• Previous staff management.
• Skills to assess, manage and monitor budgets and financial information.
• Evidence of strong leadership skills.
• Evidence of ability to lead and complete project.
• Evidence of advanced critical care skills.
• Experience of working in an ACCP role.
• Education Qualification.
