Job description

Our client, an international Import/Export company, is looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join a small but friendly team based in Southampton for a stable and successful company.


The benefits you will receive as a Credit Controller are:

  2. Office based - 5 days per week, 8:30am - 5pm
  3. 23 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), rising to 28 with service

As a Credit Controller, you will have accountability and ownership of accounts under your portfolio. You will ensure payments are collected as per terms provided, manage queries internally with responsible departments, and meet and exceed monthly collection targets.


Key Responsibilities of a Credit Controller:

  1. Analysing customer's credit ratings with credit reference agents for referral and approval of the Credit Control Manager.
  2. Handling international and multi-currency transactions.
  3. Timely and effective collection of all debts and customer payments as per required terms.
  4. Maintaining contact with customers to ensure invoices are clear for payment.
  5. Persistent follow-up on overdue/delinquent customers.
  6. Resolving queries both internally and externally around outstanding/payable invoices.
  7. Daily recording and maintenance of data pertaining to a monthly asset finance reconciliation.
  8. Posting and allocating daily receipts to accounting systems.
  9. Assuming responsibility for the upkeep of the master files on the accounts receivable system.
  10. Being prepared to undertake routine/general administrative functions, e.g., filing, photocopying, mailing, and general maintenance of records pertinent to the Credit Control function.
