About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Credit Controller to join our Finance team in London. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing credit control processes, actively pursuing outstanding debts, and optimising cash flow to support the company’s growth.
You will be joining a Finance team of 4, reporting to the Finance Manager. You will have the chance to work closely with teams across the business, including Customer Support and Operations. Responsibilities
- Debt Collection and Follow-up: Actively manage and chase outstanding debt via email and phone, confidently engaging clients to reduce overdue balances and optimise cash flow. Oversee the use of our automated workflows and debt tracking tools to ensure timely follow-ups on unpaid invoices.
- Accounts Reconciliation: Accurately record and allocate incoming payments in Xero daily. Regularly update and reconcile the aged receivables tracker, ensuring comprehensive notes on all accounts. Conduct monthly reconciliations between the billing system and Xero to maintain ledger accuracy and escalate legal actions as required.
- Customer Queries and Dispute Resolution: Respond to client inquiries professionally within agreed service levels, handling all requests for account statements, invoice copies, and resolving disputes promptly to ensure consistent collections. Maintain a high standard of service in all communications, both written and over the phone.
- Invoice and Credit Management: Prepare, issue, and manage customer invoices and credit notes. Process any invoice changes accurately within the system to ensure up-to-date and accurate client billing.
- Reporting and Insights: Generate weekly and ad-hoc management reports that provide a clear overview of aged receivables and collection trends, supporting informed decision-making on cash flow and credit management.
- Payment Operations Support: Assist with daily payment runs to clinicians, ensuring the accurate and timely distribution of funds as part of the finance team’s daily operations.
- Process Improvement and Policy Development: Actively participate in projects aimed at enhancing cash collection processes, contributing ideas for policy development and improvements in credit control procedures.
- Team Collaboration and Guidance: Work closely with the Customer Support team, providing finance-related guidance and addressing cross-functional questions to support seamless service delivery.
- General Finance Administration: Support the finance department with administrative tasks that enhance team efficiency, contributing to the overall organisation and operational flow of the department.
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Credit Controller with 2+ years of experience (open to candidates with less experience who demonstrate the right aptitude) who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings a strong sense of initiative.
- Financial Knowledge: You have a foundational understanding of finance processes, with specific experience in credit control within high-volume environments. You’re proactive about streamlining processes, implementing effective credit control measures, and can develop policies as needed.
- Positive Team Contributor: You bring enthusiasm and a growth mindset to each task, contributing to a positive team dynamic and embracing opportunities to learn.
- Strong Communicator: With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you’re confident in engaging with clients over the phone to resolve overdue invoices effectively and professionally.
- Composure Under Pressure: In a fast-paced setting, you stay organised and focused, managing multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality results.
- Data & Spreadsheet Proficiency: You are skilled in Excel and Google Sheets, comfortable handling large datasets, and can derive insights to support credit control.
- Software Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various financial and data software. Prior knowledge of Xero and Looker is an advantage.
