The Birks Cinema Trust is a charity which owns and manages The Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy. With around 21,000 people already visiting our cultural programme and 5,500 for our community programme, we now intend to launch a Creative Learning and Education Programme. This programme for young people and our community will be developed in the context of the inclusion of screen and film education in the Curriculum for Excellence Schools curriculum and involve other art forms, including drama and music. A stakeholder consultation, feasibility study, and design of an education programme are required, which will also be developed in conjunction with other arts and culture organisations within Highland Perthshire.

• Full-time
• Some evening and weekend work will be required with this role
• Undertake research into creative learning and education provision for young people and adults in our community and surrounding area in film, arts, and the creative industries to create a map of provision and identify relevant stakeholders.
• Devise and manage a consultation exercise with local young people, education providers, community and arts and cultural organisations, and other relevant stakeholders, including funders.
• Use the outputs of the consultation to design and scope a creative learning and education programme to be delivered by Birks Cinema Trust in partnership with others.
• Develop a feasibility study for the delivery of the creative learning and education programme with a supporting 5-year business plan and budget.
• Identify sources of funding to implement the business plan.

Person Specifications

• Knowledge of current arts and cultural education provision in Scotland at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, including knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence.
• Partnership working, including experience of negotiating and developing partnerships with schools, cultural organisations, voluntary organisations, and local authorities.
• Experience of designing and delivering collaborative projects or programmes that are innovative, inclusive, and accessible.
• Experience of integrating national and regional educational policy priorities with local plans for education and creative learning.
• Project and budget management, planning, and organisational skills, with experience of initiating, developing, and managing projects and the development of programmes.
• Ability to effectively convey information and ideas to others through both verbal and non-verbal means, including active listening, clear expression, adapting communication style to different audiences, and understanding non-verbal cues, allowing for meaningful interaction and mutual understanding.
• Experience and understanding of the challenges and issues of delivering services in rural communities would be desirable.
• Knowledge of Gaelic language and culture would be desirable.
