Job description

Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Location: South Tyneside

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education are recruiting a Cover Supervisor to work within a South Tyneside based alternative provision.

This role involves working with pupils who cannot access mainstream education due to their Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural needs; therefore, resilience and dedication are key.

This role focuses on empowering pupils to become confident, capable learners while providing tailored support to meet their diverse needs.

The successful Cover Supervisor will play a vital role in ensuring continuity of education in the absence of the regular staff.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update system or a willingness to obtain one
  2. Deliver lessons plans that have been pre-planned
  3. Have experience working with individuals with more challenging behaviour
  4. Supervise classes and provide support during teacher absences, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment
  5. Develop a knowledge and understanding of the academic, emotional, and behavioural needs of the child and respond to these effectively
  6. Be flexible and resilient
  7. Possess good classroom skills
