Cover Supervisor (Science & Maths)

Location: Brighton, UK
Salary: GBP100 - GBP150 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Long Term
Start Date: Immediate / February Half Term

As a school, they are continually improving and adapting to meet the needs of our students, and are seeking a Cover Supervisor with a background in Science and some Maths knowledge to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a vibrant group of students and staff, ensuring that learning continues smoothly during periods of teacher absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students are engaged and completing their work in Science and some Maths.
  • Support students in understanding and completing tasks set by the teacher, providing guidance where needed.
  • Ensure that students follow school rules and maintain appropriate behaviour during lessons.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a positive and productive environment for all students.
  • Assist in setting up and clearing away resources for practical Science lessons, ensuring safety and adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Provide feedback to the department on student progress and any issues that arise during the lesson.
  • Monitor and record attendance during lessons, reporting any concerns to the relevant staff.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as marking student work, preparing resources, or assisting with lesson plans when required.
  • Promote the school's values, ensuring students demonstrate respect and responsibility in the classroom.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A strong academic background in Science.
  • Knowledge of Maths is essential, as you may be required to assist with Maths lessons in addition to Science cover.
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, or in a classroom setting is desirable, but not essential.
  • A proactive approach to managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students of all abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A patient, flexible, and adaptable attitude.
  • An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
