Job description

Location: Tameside
Salary: £90 – £120 per day
Contract Type: Full-time & Part-time available

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking an experienced Cover Supervisor to work in a secondary school in the Tameside area. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the school by overseeing the classroom when the regular teacher is absent. The role involves supervising students while they complete work that has been set, ensuring they remain on task and follow instructions.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee classrooms during planned teacher absences.
  • Ensure students follow the set lesson plans and stay engaged.
  • Maintain order and manage classroom behaviour according to school policies.
  • Provide support and guidance to students where needed, ensuring they stay focused.
  • Report any issues or student concerns to the teaching staff or pastoral team.
  • Work closely with other staff to ensure smooth classroom transitions and minimal disruption.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with secondary-age students (either in an educational or similar setting).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage students effectively.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to keep a classroom environment productive.
  • A positive, proactive approach to working with students and staff alike.
  • A degree or qualification in a related field is desirable but not required.
