Country Manager (Tour Operator Company)

Grand Circle Corporation or Overseas Adventure Travel is in business to change the lives of our travelers, employees, and communities in which we work and travel. As the largest US direct marketer of international travel, adventure and discovery for North Americans aged 50-plus, we have successful programs in the UK & IRELAND. To support these programs, we are looking for a Country Manager to be based in the region to ensure we hire and optimize the very best staff to look after our passengers.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage day-to-day operations and drive the effectiveness of the regional staff to develop new programs and achieve quality goals, reporting directly to the Regional Manager.
2. Drive the hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and management of Tour Guides for products.
3. Create a strong team of high-performing Tour Guides who exemplify the company’s culture, values, and team spirit.
4. Establish strong relationships with vendors and support buying and profitability goals in the region.
5. Provide 24/7 emergency support and drive resolutions of issues.

Qualifications:

1. Extensive experience in hiring and coaching.
2. Excellent leadership skills.
3. Experience designing tours.
4. Deep knowledge of the UK and Ireland.
5. Excellence-oriented with fluency in written and spoken English.
6. Willingness to travel extensively throughout the regions and spend time on the road.
7. The right aptitude and discipline to work from home.
8. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
9. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
10. Experience managing offices of an international tour and travel company.
11. Strong negotiation skills and experience with vendors in the travel/tourism business.
12. Ability to implement the company’s performance-driven strategy with a strong focus on excellence.
13. Passion for tourism and people.
