Job Title: Counsellor – SEMH – Specialist Education

Hours: Full-time, permanent (Monday to Friday)

Location: London (on-site)

Accreditation: BACP or NCPS

Are you a dedicated Counsellor passionate about supporting teenagers with social, emotional, and mental health challenges?

Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled Counsellor to join a leading therapeutic school that has been transforming the lives of children for over 12 years. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment where your expertise will directly impact vulnerable young people who have experienced profound trauma and adversity.

Their therapeutic schools provide a nurturing space for children, particularly those in years 10 and 11, who often struggle to thrive in mainstream education. You will play a crucial role in helping them navigate their emotional challenges and build resilience.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one counselling to teenagers, focusing on emotional regulation and relationship-building.
  • Conducting assessments to identify the needs of students and developing tailored intervention plans.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and educators, to support the overall wellbeing of students.
  • Engaging in group therapy sessions and facilitating peer support activities.
  • Writing assessments and progress reports for annual reviews.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A formal qualification in Counselling and accreditation with either BACP or NCPS.
  • Experience working with adolescents facing emotional and mental health challenges.
  • Experience in trauma-informed care is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate, creative approach to therapy.

Benefits:

  • 15 weeks of paid holiday per year.
  • Healthcare insurance after six months.
  • On-site massage therapists, sound baths, yoga sessions, and reflective practice sessions twice a term.
  • Free lunch.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth within a supportive environment.
