The Costs Team provides a service to our fee earners who deal with recovery of costs in contentious practice areas. Their primary aim is dealing with the preparation of bills of costs, negotiation, and advocacy within the detailed assessment of costs proceedings. Our Costs structure gives our costs lawyers an unrivalled breadth of experience including areas of law as diverse as personal injury, commercial litigation, family cases, and Court of Protection.

If you enjoy being part of a successful, friendly, and high-performing team, then this is the job for you. You’ll be working closely with the team’s Law Costs Draftsmen, Paralegals, and Partners to ensure they have the right administrative support at all times. This is a busy and fast-paced role, so you’ll need to be able to work quickly and accurately, building strong relationships with your team and our clients. There’s lots of room for progression, and we’d really like to support you in your professional development.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Preparing schedules of costs for interim payment requests and negotiations
  • Supporting fee earners with the preparation of bundles and e-filing of documents with Courts
  • Preparing electronic files to be outsourced to external suppliers when capacity is limited internally
  • Preparing narratives for inclusion within client bills, settling out the work done on the case and dealing with client billing instructions to the Accounts team
  • Handling internal client enquiries by phone, letter, and email
  • Ensuring databases are kept up-to-date
