Job Advert: Remote Costs Draftsperson/Advocate

Introduction:

Time Recruitment is representing a well-established legal practice seeking an experienced Costs Draftsperson/Advocate to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hardworking, self-motivated professional with a keen eye for detail who is comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines. There is also potential for progression, including managing a small team or overseeing a dedicated client account.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting bills of costs for a variety of cases, including:
• Personal injury
• Industrial disease
• Commercial matters
• Clinical negligence
• Credit claims
• Preparing schedules of costs and statements for trial
• Providing cost advice to clients in writing or via telephone regarding:
• Settlement recovery
• Technical issues
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Cost Budgets and preparing documentation for the CCMC
• Attending CCMC/CMC hearings to advocate on Cost Budgets and directions
• Conducting regular file reviews and using Proclaim (case management system) and Costs Master (cost drafting software) to ensure timely case progression
• Meeting agreed performance targets, including:
• Daily chargeable time
• Annual billing goals

Requirements:

• Proven experience in costs drafting and advocacy
• Strong knowledge of costs law and procedures
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Proclaim and Costs Master (preferred but not essential)
• Ability to work in accordance with professional standards, money laundering regulations, and regulatory requirements
