The opportunity

Given our client's team continuing to expand, they are currently seeking an experienced Cost Manager, to become a part of the PMO team, reporting directly to the Cost Lead, and who will support the delivery of accurate and timely project information relating to performance against the project baseline.

Location: London 2-3 days in London

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  1. Administer effective cost control as part of the programme's integrated delivery team.
  2. Drive the cost performance reporting for the Programme including EV analysis associated with key commitments and expenditures.
  3. Collate and analyze Programme Cost Information in accordance with the Cost Management Policy and Procedures.
  4. Ensure accurate accruals and contract cost performance is captured appropriately and effective analysis is undertaken against the baseline.
  5. Support the Cost Lead with the implementation of appropriate cost systems, procedures, and working templates.
  6. Provide support to Project teams to ensure timely and accurate cost information submission on a regular basis, including reporting on EAC, ETC, ACWP and comparison to the baseline.
  7. Track actual costs against appropriate cost control structures.
  8. Support the Cost Lead in executing cost re-baseline exercises, forecast, and budget updates as appropriate.
  9. Undertake analyses of the Project Cost information to support Programme objectives including earned value and trend analysis.
  10. Work closely with the finance and commercial teams to ensure accurate accruals and contract costs are included within the overall EAC and performance reports.
  11. Analyze Change Requests ensuring cost data is correctly identified/coded (CBS) and change requests are aligned with budgets.
  12. Support project teams in the use of cost tools, acting as a point of contact for basic user support/training.

You will have the following qualifications and experience

  1. Educated to professional standard and membership of an appropriate body to degree level or equivalent.
  2. Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  3. Ability to communicate cost and performance information to peers/managers.
  4. Proactive and able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  5. Good attention to detail and skilled in interpreting and analyzing cost data.
  6. Comfortable with challenging assumptions and processes to constantly improve the delivery of performance data.
  7. Working knowledge of cost management functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.
  8. Experience of identifying, analyzing, and solving problems.
  9. Good understanding/working knowledge of Cost management/forecasting tools (such as PRISM/ EcoSys/ Cobra).
  10. Understanding/working knowledge of Earned Value Methodologies.
  11. Experienced in working within Project Controls in a Major Programme environment.

The setting for the role

Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licensed site. These can include nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided, and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
