Cost Accountant (6 months FTC)

Cost Accountant / Management Accountant - 6 month fixed term contract (long term permanent opportunities available subject to sign off)

£50,000 - £60,000 + 25 days holiday + superb pension + health-care

Office based 5 days per week initially, then moving to 4 days per week in the office and 1 at home after 3 month probation.

East Hertfordshire based - free parking

37 hour working week

Our well-established Manufacturing client, based in East Hertfordshire, are seeking to hire an experienced Cost Accountant, initially for 6 months for their collaborative, experienced, close-knit finance team. You will ideally be available at short notice to start this role, although applications from candidates on a month's notice will also be considered.

You will ideally currently work, have recently worked, or previously have worked in a Manufacturing business, and be able to offer a wealth of experience across Cost Accounting, Management Accountant, and Cost Control, so be able to hit the ground running.

This 6 month contract is very likely to be extended into a permanent role, subject to performance and sign off. Your role will be varied and interesting and will include:

1. Full aspects of Cost Accounting
2. Allocate and track costs for materials, labour, and overheads
3. Identify variances, inefficiencies and opportunities for cost savings
4. Monitor key performance indicators related to cost efficiency and profitability
5. Conduct detailed variance analysis, identifying cost discrepancies and providing recommendations to optimise performance
6. Evaluate the financial performance to ensure they are aligned with the company's goals
7. Collaborate with production and operations teams to implement various cost-savings measures
8. Financial Reporting
9. Help prepare the standard costing entries
10. Be responsible for clear and actionable financial insights
11. Ensure accuracy and integrity of cost-related financial data
12. Be responsible for internal controls and compliance
13. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS)
14. Support the internal audits

The successful candidate will offer:

1. Previous and recent experience of working in a similar Cost Accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing organisation
2. The ability to work with all levels of finance and non-finance teams
3. The ability to communicate complex cost information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
4. Technically strong in all areas of accounting
5. Personable, engaging and hands-on with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
