Job Description
Cost Accountant duties include:
- Assist in the preparation of manufacturing accounts.
- Preparation and analysis of Actual Cost of Sales (COS) and update expected COS for forecast analysis. Analyse key variances and report drivers.
- Maintaining standard costing process, update and revaluation across all legal entities.
- Maintaining overhead rates and analysis of variances to expected.
- Inventory reconciliation, variance analysis, yield analysis, obsolete and slow moving stock provisions.
- Managing monthly stock-takes and delivering year end inventory stocktake.
- Providing financial support with monthly cost and inventory review meetings.
- Prepare and process journals to support month end process.
- Preparation and reconciliation of monthly journals.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations for specified accounts.
- Project expenditure management and control.
- Support, definition, analysis, implementation and control of identified avenues of improvement.
- Active engagement with manufacturing group to support deployment and analysis of operational excellence programmes aimed at improving productivity and agility.
- Support supply chain group to understand material and logistic cost breakdown providing analysis to support savings initiatives.
- Manage the reporting of costs through the life of the product.
- Support the Commercial Accountant in pricing decisions.
- Reporting and analysis.
- Active engagement within a team based environment with operations.
- Coach and support managers within the business in financially-based analysis and decision making.
- Maintain effective working relationships with budget holding managers within the business.
- Apply IT applications to drive efficiency improvements in the collection, reporting and distribution of financial information.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will:
- Have a proven track record in a similar role (manufacturing / cost accounting experience).
- Be part qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA or qualified by experience.
- Be an excellent communicator (both written and verbal).
- Have working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Be proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
