Your new company

Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a well-established manufacturing group to recruit a hands-on & experienced Cost Accountant for their Hereford, Herefordshire site. A permanent accounting role supporting the Financial Controller & Finance team in pursuing business objectives in terms of output, quality and cost. The role will take the lead for costing processes within the Group, partnering with both operational management and the wider accounting function. Open to part-qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA Accountants or finance professionals who are qualified by experience.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve maintaining and improving the Cost Accounting function to provide senior management with a timely, accurate and efficient service. You will produce accurate costing information, assist in pricing of products and prepare/understand material usage, along with purchase price variances. You will produce, understand and communicate variable cost information, partner with Operations and Senior Management to communicate costing processes and costing data. You will ensure the company adheres to sound accounting principles with the aim to reviewing processes and determining potential problem areas. You will prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations, SOX co-ordinator and be involved in ad-hoc projects/duties to support the accounting function.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this hands-on Cost Accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position, ideally part-qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience with strong MS Excel skills. You will have key analytical skills, great communication skills to partner internally with operational management, and be able to manage workloads to tight deadlines. You will have knowledge of internal control systems and procedures, comfortable adapting to business needs, the ability to problem-solve and support process improvements. Experience within the manufacturing sector and Sarbanes Oxley would be advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return

This permanent Cost Accountant role is offering a salary between £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience, based in Hereford, Herefordshire. Benefits include contributed pension scheme, life assurance x 3, study package if applicable for financial qualifications, along with training/development opportunities.
