Correctional Education Officer – Intensive Learning Centre

Mid North Coast Correctional Centre

Salary : $101,261 - $113,516 pa plus superannuation and leave loading.

Position Type : Ongoing, Full-Time Position

Location : Mid North Coast Correctional Centre

Your role

An exciting opportunity is currently available for an experienced Education Officer to join the Intensive Learning Centre (ILC) at the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre to assist with planning and developing courses which meet the requirements of accredited programs and training packages to achieve the highest level of compliance in accordance with CSNSW policies and procedures. This role is crucial in the contribution to reduce inmate reoffending and increased community safety.

What you’ll do

  • Implement education assessment and planning processes to determine offender participation in appropriate education programs and services.
  • Conduct classes with offenders who are required to meet the learning needs, styles and interests of inmates under the principles of adult learning.
  • Develop course outlines and teaching and assessment resources for the delivery of courses which meet the accredited qualifications.
  • Participate in evaluation processes including validation and moderation of assessment.
  • Coordinate the provision of services in the Intensive Learning Centre related to education and training i.e., inmates access to computers, library, and courses delivered by external education service providers.
  • Maintain administrative duties related to teaching.
  • Contribute to offender case management by providing support and advice to inmates on education and employment pathways.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in education from a recognised university, incorporating subjects studied which qualify the employee to teach in the learning area required by AEVTI; or
  • Graduate Diploma (or higher) in Education, from a recognised university; qualification (degree, diploma or certificate) from a recognised university (or other recognised tertiary education institution) in a discipline other than education, incorporating subjects studied which qualify the employee to teach in the learning area required by AEVTI.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or ability to gain this qualification within the first 12 months of employment (Self-Funded).
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role.
