Corporate Research Analyst - Risk Management and Independence (Global Role in a Virtual Working Environment)

Overall Role Purpose
The Risk management and independence function within Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL) safeguards the Grant Thornton brand and reputation through systems and processes that identify and mitigate key business risks including compliance with applicable professional standards and regulation. The GTIL corporate research analyst will support the international relationship checking (IRC) process for GTIL member firms by researching corporate family trees for prospective engagements and business relationships, processing identified entities via the Global Relationship System (GRS), and providing additional research support for risk-based projects.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Compile corporate family trees and facilitate the International Relationship Checking (IRC) process.
  2. Research and compile corporate family trees per policy requirements using business databases and online sources.
  3. Utilize critical thinking skills to identify accurate corporate family tree structures for prospective clients.
  4. Communicate research notes professionally and timely with member firm IRC contacts and engagement teams.
  5. Apply effective time management skills to manage the time-sensitive IRC process.
  6. Collaborate with global research teams to understand research best practices and IRC processing guidelines.
  7. Report to Risk team leadership based in the United States.
  8. Utilize advanced Excel data skills to clean, structure, and format family tree data for upload into the GRS system.
  9. Support the GTIL Risk management and independence team processes and projects.
  10. Assist with the maintenance and organization of departmental resources.
  11. Lead the preparation, coordination, and delivery of IRC trainings to member firms.
  12. Perform quality audits of team research and processing and drive improvements.
  13. Support daily administration activities including user account creation & maintenance.

Person Specification
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, history, library & information science, or a related degree with a research-intensive focus.
Experience - Essential:

  1. Robust research skills and proficiency with internet search engines.
  2. Solid critical thinking and analytical skills.
  3. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications.
  4. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  5. Ability to collaborate with a global team.
  6. High level of professionalism and integrity.
  7. Strong customer service orientation.

Experience - Desirable:
  1. Experience with the Bureau van Dijk Hyper Ownership Viewer database.
  2. Fluency in Spanish or French.
  3. Exposure to working with a global organization.
