Corporate Lawyer (Hybrid Working)
Location: Reading
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hybrid Working: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote after initial settling-in period

Our client is a well-established, highly regarded regional law firm providing expert legal services to a broad range of clients across various sectors. As they continue to expand their Corporate and Commercial practice, they are looking for an experienced Corporate Lawyer to join their dynamic team. This role offers a hybrid working model with flexibility to work remotely for part of the week, after an initial period of in-office integration and training.

Role Overview:

The Corporate Lawyer will be an integral member of our Corporate team, providing high-quality legal advice to businesses of all sizes, from SMEs to large corporations. The role will involve a broad range of corporate law work, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance, and general company law matters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law, a proactive attitude, and a desire to work in a client-facing, fast-paced environment. You will be expected to work on complex transactions, develop client relationships, and contribute to the growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Advise clients on a wide range of corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, share purchases, corporate restructurings, and joint ventures.
  2. Draft and negotiate corporate documents such as shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, and other transactional documents.
  3. Provide strategic legal advice to clients on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and general company law matters.
  4. Conduct due diligence on corporate transactions and manage the transaction process from start to finish.
  5. Collaborate with senior lawyers and partners to deliver complex legal solutions.
  6. Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing a high level of service and fostering trust.
  7. Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and trainees within the team.
  8. Assist with business development activities, including pitching to potential clients and contributing to the firm’s marketing efforts.
  9. Keep up to date with developments in corporate law and related areas.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  1. Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent) with 3 to 4+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in corporate law.
  2. Strong technical knowledge of corporate law and experience advising on corporate transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, and corporate governance.
  3. Experience with drafting and negotiating a range of corporate documents.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  5. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to think strategically.
  6. Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of service.
  7. A proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Experience in a regional or mid-tier law firm environment.
  2. A client-focused approach with the ability to contribute to business development efforts.
  3. Familiarity with key industry sectors such as real estate, finance, or technology is advantageous.
