Job description

As a Catering Assistant/Chef/Cook/Food service assistant at Cuthbert House, Derwent water road, Bensham, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear NE8 2SH

Approved Premises (APs) contribute to the effective risk management of people released from prison by providing an enhanced level of supervision, monitoring and rehabilitation within the community. The post will provide you experience of working with complex and vulnerable people and an understanding of residential setting within the Criminal Justice System. What you'll do:

  • Plan, prepare, cook, and appropriately present meals to the residents.
  • Follow recipes well and have good experience in volume cooking.
  • Ensure routine day-to-day as well as specialized cleaning of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, kitchen floors, and storage areas.
  • Control waste with regard to preparation and cooking.
  • Maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene, and safety.
  • Manage and control all food, including receiving and checking stock, checking equipment and materials are used correctly, and closely monitoring portion control.
  • Ensure routine data is collected as required and that all daily checks, including temperature control during production, preparation, service, and storage are carried out properly.
  • Immediately report all accidents, near misses, damage, or breakages to the Catering supervisor.
  • Ensure that the Catering Department is opened and closed at the required times and secured when not in use.
  • Undertake any other tasks appropriate with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
  • Attend any relevant training sessions to ensure that you are fully equipped to perform your role effectively.

Package Description

  • 30 hours per week.
  • Shift pattern/hours: Monday - Friday 12.00-18.00.
  • £11.64 per hour.
