Location: Halewood Transmission Plant

Salary: £40,245.53 - £62,953.73 (depending on experience)

Duration: Permanent

Hours: Monday – Thursday (7:00 – 15:30), Friday (7:00 – 12:30)

Your Role

As a Controls Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our cutting-edge electric vehicle powertrain production. You’ll oversee machinery controls, infrastructure, and energy systems, managing projects from small budgets to £1 million+, ensuring they’re delivered safely, on time, and cost-effectively.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, management, production, and maintenance teams to drive innovation and efficiency in our world-class manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Be a role model for safety and Ford+ values
  2. Drive a zero-accident culture and champion equity
  3. Oversee controls and electrical infrastructure for plant performance improvements
  4. Lead electrical and controls engineering projects towards The Factory of the Future
  5. Manage project costs, ensuring maximum value for the company
  6. Implement innovative engineering solutions
  7. Oversee contractors, ensuring health & safety compliance
  8. Work with internal & external teams to deliver successful projects
  9. Support continuous improvement across the business

What You Need to Succeed

  1. Degree in Electronics Engineering (or related field)
  2. Experience in Electrical & Electronics disciplines (desirable)
  3. Project management expertise, with budgets up to £10 million
  4. Manufacturing experience (or similar environment)
  5. Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Project Management software)
  6. Engineering specification & legal compliance knowledge
  7. Analytical mindset, strong communication & self-motivation

Technical Skills (but not essential)

  1. PLC Experience: Siemens Step-7, TIA Portal
  2. Machine Hardware & Controls: ABB, Fanuc, Kuka & UR robotics
  3. Vision & Fastening Systems: IFM, Keyence, Cognex, Bosch, Atlas Copco
  4. Machine Acceptance & Compliance: CE & UKCA marking, BS & EN standards
  5. AutoCAD Electrical & Eplan (modifications & approvals)
  6. Energy & Infrastructure Planning: Electrical distribution, HVAC, BMS
  7. High Voltage (HV) & Low Voltage (LV) systems (Authorised Person role)
