Samuel Frank is recruiting a Control Systems Engineer to join a specialist engineering business based in the Merseyside area. The business is well established and operates in a growing, high precision industry and they’re investing heavily in bringing more of their manufacturing process in-house. The successful Control Systems Engineer will be involved in re-engineering legacy systems, by simplifying complex onerous systems and migrating to Siemens TIA Portal.

Key aspects of the Control Systems Engineer role include:

  • Design and develop Siemens TIA Portal control systems
  • Create Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and document the process fully, ensuring change management compliance
  • Industrial Ethernet communication knowledge
  • Control Systems Engineers with experience of working for an OEM will be well suited to this environment (as well as Control Systems Engineers who have worked in a system integration company)
  • Engage across multiple teams – the successful Control Systems Engineer will be required to develop HMI screens so business can improve equipment monitoring and performance as well as traceability
  • Experience of developing control systems to standards, ensuring UL, IEC and ISO compliance
  • Knowledge of relevant UK and EU directives for equipment for use in explosive atmospheres e.g. ATEX – ideal experience
  • Knowledge of industrial Ethernet communications
  • Siemens WinCC within TIA Portal knowledge
  • Experience with vacuum, temperature, pressure/flow control systems – nice to have
  • Knowledge of heat treatment process, ovens, provers and/or furnaces and their associated control systems would be ideal experience
  • Experience from the Automotive or Aerospace industries would be advantageous.
  • Control Systems Engineer will be office based. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 8-5pm, Friday 8-2.30pm
