Salary: GBP40,000 - GBP50,000 (depending on experience)

We are a reputable and well-established industrial business based in Manchester, known for delivering high-quality engineering solutions to a wide range of clients across manufacturing, process, and automation sectors. Due to continued growth and exciting new projects, we are now seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer with strong Siemens S7 experience to join our team.

Role Overview
As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, and commissioning control systems, with a primary focus on Siemens S7 PLC platforms. This is a hands-on, mid-level position suitable for engineers with a few years of industry experience, looking to take the next step in their career with a supportive and innovative team.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop PLC control systems using Siemens S7 (TIA Portal and/or Step 7)
  2. Develop HMI and SCADA systems where required
  3. Conduct system testing, fault finding, and debugging
  4. Participate in site commissioning and customer handover (mainly UK-based)
  5. Collaborate with electrical design, mechanical, and project engineering teams
  6. Maintain project documentation and support post-installation
  7. Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and industry regulations

Required Skills and Experience
  1. Proven experience with Siemens S7 PLCs (essential)
  2. Experience with TIA Portal and/or Step 7
  3. Strong understanding of industrial control systems and automation principles
  4. Hands-on experience in programming, commissioning, and system integration
  5. Good understanding of electrical schematics and control panel layouts
  6. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  7. Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and commissioning

Desirable (but not essential)
  1. Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (e.g. WinCC, Ignition, etc.)
  2. Exposure to other PLC systems (e.g. Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)
  3. Background in industrial sectors such as food & beverage, FMCG, process, or manufacturing
