Your future role

We are looking to recruit a Control Room Technician to join a global leader in Rolling Stock. This role will require the technician to provide technical support to the customer Control room support staff whilst the train is in service. This role is an excellent opportunity for a Rolling Stock Engineer that is looking to make their next career step up to a Control Room Technician. You will need to demonstrate the ability to provide technical support to resolve performance or in-service failures.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Interface with customer control room staff
  • Monitor live ORBITA feed to identify emerging issues, responding to ORBITA alerts
  • Complete remote investigation of in-service failures using ORBITA, OTMR, CCTV, and other available systems. Provide ‘pack’ to technician/hi-level technician called to the train or investigation at Depot
  • Raise work orders on MAXIMO system
  • Monitor ORBITA feed for AVIS output
  • Using the MAXIMO dynamic planning system, plan AVIS tasks into available maintenance schedule slots at the Depot
  • In addition to a number of planning duties, coordinate activities relating to in-service failures by providing rapid technical support to the customer operations teams.
  • When on depot, complete a high level of fault finding to units whilst also providing ongoing technical advice to managers and technicians

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable
  • Good level of EMU Technical Knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate investigating electrical engineering problems
  • Ability to demonstrate providing a solution to an electrical engineering problem
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical engineering problems
  • Ability to present an electrical engineering solution to the customer
  • Proven ability to carry out complex electrical maintenance, repair, and modification tasks on Rolling Stock
  • Knowledge of computer-based asset management system to record and close out work completed
  • Must have electrical & mechanical fault diagnosis experience and the ability to investigate problems and find a solution
  • Fault Finding/Diagnosis – Electrical & Mechanical
  • Bombardier System Knowledge (Orbita and Maximo)
  • IT skills including Excel and Lotus Notes
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
