Job Title: Contract Manager

Location: Manchester, North West, and Yorkshire areas

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum

Additional Benefits: Car allowance or company vehicle, fuel card

Our client is a family-owned business, initially focusing on commercial roofing applications using Liquid Plastics. Over the years, they have expanded their expertise and services to become a leading contractor in the commercial and industrial flat roofing sector, offering a range of systems including felt, hotmelt, liquid, and single-ply roofing.

Role Description:

As a Contracts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful delivery of projects while ensuring compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. You will be responsible for managing contracts from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with the site team and line managers to ensure that projects meet quality, performance, and financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compile and gain approval of HSE documentation, including site-specific RAMS, prior to the commencement of all contracts.
  2. Ensure strict adherence to all HSE policies and regulations on-site, including those for subcontracted work.
  3. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the latest regulations and industry best practices.
  4. Manage the overall performance and contract compliance of projects, ensuring thorough understanding and review of project schemes prior to start.
  5. Oversee quality control and assurance for all projects.
  6. Set and monitor clear objectives for all projects during the pre-construction phase.
  7. Handover all relevant information to the site team for project execution.
  8. Set and deliver on key performance indicators (KPIs) for each project.
  9. Identify and implement opportunities to improve project margins and manage risks effectively.
  10. Regularly monitor and manage the status and financial performance of contracts through to completion, providing timely updates to the line manager.
  11. Attend adjudication meetings and ensure all relevant information is available at the handover stage.
  12. Conduct a Lessons Learned review at the end of each project/programme.
  13. Maintain in-depth knowledge of materials, specifications, and industry trends.

  3. A passion for learning and growth within the roofing and construction industry.
  4. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Essential Skills:

  1. Full clean UK driving license.
  2. Clean DBS check (required).
  3. Strong understanding of housing law and housing management.
  4. Valid CSCS card.
  5. Experience with working at heights.
  6. SSSTS / SMSTS certification.
  7. Proven experience in contract management and delivering projects on time and within budget.
