Job Purpose

BBC Radio Nottingham aims to set the agenda for our city and county and we’re looking for a talented, creative producer to join our brilliant team. We give our audiences everything they need to know about life in Nottinghamshire combined with a big dose of entertainment and fun. We strive to reflect everything that’s great about Notts - from the buzzing city of Nottingham to the world famous Sherwood Forest. We pride ourselves on shining a light on what’s not quite right too – asking tough questions on behalf of our audiences holding our local and national officials to account on the issues that matter. You’ll be a producer working to promote our brand with well-crafted audio for an on-demand audience on BBC Sounds. In addition to this, you’ll be the driving force behind the creation of impactful trails for our linear output. You’ll love working across teams to identify content that we can share across our platforms and be supremely organised when it comes to scheduling, curating and promoting it.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

We’re looking for a driven and passionate producer who wants to help us reach new audiences with the content that matters to them. You’ll know who our target audiences are, and understand what they’re looking for both in digital and linear output. You will be full of creative ideas on how to engage those audiences in new and innovative ways. You’ll know how to turn content around to a tight deadline but be equally comfortable taking on a long term, long form commission too. We’re looking for a producer who enjoys working in a busy news environment, who can collaborate across multiple teams and feel at home with breaking news, human-interest stories and continuing series about our county’s “hidden” secrets. You’ll also have an ability to produce a steady stream of your own original ideas. You will work with teams to make sure the BBC Radio Nottingham schedule is correct with imaging and trails.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate creativity in producing audio content for both digital and linear platforms and have experience of producing output that can be tailored for publication in a variety of ways. You will also be able to forward plan and contribute to a strategy to maintain BBC Radio Nottingham as the number one station in its marketplace.

You will have an excellent knowledge of what works on social media across all platforms and how to use it to drive audiences to our brand. You’ll be confident using a DAW such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro or Adobe Audition, experience of the BBC ViLOR broadcast desk; Open Media and dira! Digital acquisition, playout and editing software is desirable.
