SWI swissinfo.ch publishes both background and up-to-date reports in ten languages using a variety of media. The information platform is aimed at an international audience and at Swiss citizens living abroad, and reaches over 80% of internet users around the world.
Your mission
SWI swissinfo.ch closely follows and reports on topics of international relevance from Switzerland. These range from politics and Swiss foreign affairs to the negotiations taking place in International Geneva. We are seeking a freelance editor to work with our journalists covering these topics, as well as others on occasion.
As an English-language content editor, you will help journalists shape their stories and ensure that the final edit aligns with SWI swissinfo.ch's international orientation and editorial strategy. Concretely, this means discussing and honing the story angle with journalists throughout the research and writing process and editing the final version for clarity, accuracy, and flow.
This job is being offered on a freelance, hourly-rate basis. Estimated time per week is between 10 and 15 hours.

Virginie Mangin, Head of Editors
High-quality journalism is our core business and passion. We have editorial freedom, encourage creativity, and provide plenty of room for new and valuable content. For us, high-quality journalism is also digital. That is why we explore new opportunities and experiment with new forms and formats: digitally, interactively, and across different media. We create content that is in tune with the times and has its finger firmly on its audience’s pulse.
We work self-reliantly, in the spirit of partnership and help to shape our working atmosphere in a truly distinctive way. Our success is built as much on the personal strengths of our employees as it is on their professional qualities. We reach and touch the whole of Switzerland with our programmes. In our work, we act respectfully and independently, which is how we encourage people to form opinions and strengthen diversity. We are proud of our work and of our contribution to Switzerland.
