Job description

We are currently seeking an interim Consumer Research Co-ordinator to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based at our client’s scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral, easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role for 12 months (Maternity Cover), requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £35,871 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

Beauty & Wellbeing (B&W) is a key Business Group for Unilever that has a very ambitious growth and sustainability agenda. Beauty & Wellbeing brings together Hair Care, Skin Care, Prestige and Health & Wellness with brands including Dove, TRESemmé, Vaseline, Sunsilk and Ponds.

Consumer Technical Insight (CTI) is an integral part of opening up these market opportunities in R&D, sitting at the interface between product design and marketing. Our purpose is to guide our brand and category design partners to create products that deliver to the consumer needs, with product experiences that delight consumers and cue desired benefits.

This role is an amazing opportunity to be part of the team CTI delivering deep consumer understanding, with a focus on designing and coordinating sensory product assessments to guide the development of superior products and experiences.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / TASKS

The role will:

  1. Provide expert recommendations and guidance in sensory testing approaches (e.g. defining Best Practice, assisting with strategic planning, training and capability building).
  2. Deliver consumer and technical insights. Analyse data and extract insights from a range of sources to help guide the development of superior propositions.
  3. Work with all R&D functions to translate project briefs into robust research programs.
  4. Write research study briefs and execute studies, working closely with internal functions and external third parties to ensure successful research execution.
  5. Lead the development and execution of project workshops, idea generation sessions or other practical activities as required for project needs.
  6. Deliver and justify business recommendations to a range of stakeholders, across multiple functions.
KEY SKILLS

About You:

  1. Proven knowledge and skills in sensory science; to include test design, coordination, analysis and interpretation of sensory studies.
  2. Preferably a degree in sensory science, physical science or social science. Some chemistry background would be great; curiosity in the latest innovation and technology is essential.
  3. Strong analytical skills and an ability to interpret data to pull out key insights; structuring complex data from multiple sources.
  4. Great people skills; building and maintaining relationships with an ability to be persuasive and assertive when necessary.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Project management and problem solving.
