Job description

The Sun is the biggest news brand in the UK, publishing hundreds of stories a day and reaching over 170m unique users digitally every month. Your role:

We are looking for a reporter to join our award-winning Consumer team doing casual shifts. You will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for uncovering stories that impact consumers' everyday lives. You will be responsible for investigating consumer issues, reporting on the latest trends, and providing our readers with insightful and actionable information. The role will cover a wide range of personal finance topics, including money saving and business stories.

Day to day you will:
  1. Have a hunger to beat our rivals day in day out, by breaking news and writing exclusive news stories and features online and in print.
  2. Bags of ideas and the ability to generate exclusives from your own sources and contacts.
  3. Write brilliant headlines and copy at speed in the famous Sun style.
  4. Work with the audience, video and picture desk to produce brilliant stories.
  5. Work as part of a team and adapting to finding new ways to tell stories.
  6. Help tell stories through video and new formats.
What we are looking for from you:
  1. Online or print reporting experience in a newspaper newsroom news organisation. Expertise in consumer, business or personal finance journalism.
  2. Experience using Wordpress or similar CMS system to build content digitally.
  3. Excellent writing skills with the ability to write clean copy to tight deadline.
  4. Passion for The Sun and understanding of the brand in print and online.
  5. Being a self-starter is key – and you will need to thrive under the pressure of a busy newsroom.
  6. Enthusiasm, imagination and a notebook full of ideas are all essential.
  7. Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standards.
  8. Positive attitude and good team player.
  9. Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  10. Have a thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations.
