Are you ready for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join us at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) in the 'Garden of England'.


As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in providing mental health and learning disability services to a diverse population of 1.8 million people in Kent and Medway. Main duties of the job

This is a 10 PA plus 0.5 PA and 3% Category A availability supplement for on-call post. Part time or job-share applications are welcome.


Successful applicants must have MRCPsych or equivalent and be on, or within six months of inclusion on, the Specialist Register and be fully registered with the GMC, as well as Approved Clinician and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act.

Qualifications
Essential
  1. MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable
  1. Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  2. MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  3. Additional clinical qualifications
Eligibility
Essential
  1. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  2. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  3. Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  4. Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
Desirable
  1. In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
  1. Excellent knowledge in specialty
  2. Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  4. Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  5. Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
  6. Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
Desirable
  1. Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning
Essential
  1. Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
  2. Participated in continuous professional development
  3. Participated in research or service evaluation
  4. Able to use and appraise clinical evidence
  5. Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
  6. Ability to work in and lead team
  7. Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement
Desirable
  1. Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post
  2. Reflected on purpose of CPD undertaken
  3. Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation
  4. Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications.
  5. Has led clinical audits leading to service change.
