Consultant Psychiatrist - Bolton - General Adult Inpatient

The Trust is seeking a consultant general adult psychiatrist to work within the Bolton Mental Health Unit based at the Rivington Unit, Royal Bolton Hospital. The post holder will act as the Responsible Clinician for up to 20 inpatients, both on an informal and detained basis, who reside within the South Bolton catchment area, and occasionally patients who have been placed out of their usual catchment area (averaging about 3-4 patients of the cohort of 20 inpatients).

Main duties of the job

1. Provide clinical leadership for the ward team and trainees.
2. The post has 23 beds and patients can be admitted from across the trust's patch.
3. Conduct regular ward reviews and ward rounds, support the team to complete CPA.
4. Undertake assessments of admissions to the service.
5. Assist team to diagnose and formulate management plans in all presentations.
6. Assessment and management of risk including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others.
7. Coordinate care with input from pharmacists, occupational therapists, and psychology staff.
8. Preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attendance at subsequent hearings.
9. Preparation of consent to treatment paperwork as well as any other MHA work such as section 17 leave, section renewals, and CTOs.
10. Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
11. Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists.

Qualifications

• Should hold a License to practice from the GMC.
• Within 6 months of being included on the Specialist Register of the GMC.
• Within 3 months from attaining AC Status.
