These roles have a salary of £79,260 - £87,153 per annum, plus an annual market supplement of £10,000, based on a 36 hour working week.

You will be based at Woodhatch Place, Reigate, Surrey but with flexibility to work from other offices in Surrey including Woking and Guildford, complemented by some home working.

These roles are full-time; however, part-time applications will be considered.

Surrey County Council is seeking to appoint four dynamic and innovative Consultants in Public Health, with strong leadership and technical skills and a real commitment to improving population health, protecting health, and reducing health inequalities.

  • Consultant in Public Health: Health improvement (Adults / sexual health / substance misuse)
  • Consultant in Public Health: Health improvement (Children / mental health / CVD)
  • Consultant in Public Health: Health protection

About the Team

The Public Health and Communities team have well-developed relationships across the Council and with partners. The team sits in the Adults, Wellbeing, and Health Partnership directorate, leading health and wellbeing initiatives across Surrey.

We are a committed, passionate, progressive, and friendly team dedicated to improving the health of the population and reducing health inequalities.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence that you are a registered Public Health specialist (GMC Specialist Register/ GDC Specialist List/ UK Public Health Register for Public Health Specialists) who is politically astute, analytical, and has well-developed partnership skills. You will be highly credible with colleagues at all levels, and your personal leadership style will be visible, dynamic, and influential.

Working as a member of the Public Health and Communities leadership team, you will report to the Director of Public Health and work across all three domains of Public Health practice, taking a strategic lead for one of them.
