Job description

Opportunity

Working as part of a skilled multi-discipline team, Head Medical is seeking a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry who would offer outstanding clinical leadership and clinical care for the patients admitted to the functional ward. Working for one of the largest NHS mental health trusts in the country, serving a population of over one million people in Nottinghamshire, this is an exciting time to come and join the medical workforce and have the opportunity to shape the provision of care to patients within the community.

This vacancy was created to fill a replacement inpatient post suitable for an Old-Age Psychiatry colleague who will assume responsibility for diagnosing and treating patients admitted to functional inpatient wards.

This is a 10 PA (SPA 2.5) post based on Cherry Ward, a 20-bed mixed-sex functional ward. The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide clinical and medical leadership to the MDT and will lead the assessment and treatment of patients under their care. The post holder, alongside an MPAC (multi-professional approved clinician) and the other inpatient consultant, will share the responsibility for the inpatients.

Trust information

The Trust also has strong academic links with the University of Nottingham and the Institute of Mental Health, home of the Mental Health Research Network hub for East Midlands and South Yorkshire. This is an NHS trust that encourages flexible working and candidates who wish to work less than full-time are encouraged to apply.

A Higher Trainee finishing the final six months of training and preparing for CCT can also apply.
