You are warmly invited to apply for this post of consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia. The successful candidates will have a broad-based training in both specialties. The post involves a commitment to out of hours duties in critical care as well as weekend emergency anaesthesia services at University Hospital.
University Hospital is a large teaching hospital and is the Major Trauma centre for the Central England Trauma Network. We have a large Department of Anaesthesia which delivers perioperative care to around 44,000 elective and emergency patients. We provide anaesthesia and perioperative care for all major sub-specialties including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and renal transplant services. The General Critical Care (GCC) has 30 physical beds and manages over 1600 admissions per year from medical and surgical specialties. There is a separate Cardiothoracic Critical Care (CTCC) with 22 physical beds.
