Applications are invited for one post with an approximately 60:40 split between St Thomas' Hospital and The Royal Brompton Hospital respectively. The post holder will be based predominantly at St Thomas' Hospital, London (STH). The successful applicant will join the established valve intervention teams across the Trust to deliver both transcatheter valve intervention, including TAVI, and contribute to the coronary revascularisation programme. Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust now boasts one of the largest TAVI programmes in Europe, undertaking more than 800 cases annually across three sites. The programme is rapidly developing with a specific emphasis on collaborative cross-site working and standardisation of care pathways. The post-holder will be expected to help further develop these pathways to increase capacity and quality of care, with an emphasis on building upon the established academic reputation. RBH and STH have a thriving coronary revascularisation programme, focusing on complex intervention and mechanical circulatory support and the successful applicant will be expected to join the interventional on-call rota at ST Thomas' Hospital.
Applicants should have a good clinical and academic background in valvular and coronary intervention. This is a full time post (10 PAs), and it is anticipated that the appointee will work closely with the existing consultants to deliver the clinical service as a team.
You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold Licence to Practise and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.
You may be required to work a shift pattern designed to provide cover for 24 hours a day or extended working day over a seven-day week. Your hours of work will be as detailed in your job plan and may be varied from time to time in accordance with the Consultant Contract Terms and Conditions.
