We are looking for high-performing individuals to join our existing team of Acute Medicine Consultants at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. We currently have a team of thirteen Acute Medicine Consultants and Specialists who are supported by a wider team of consultant colleagues (with areas of specialty interest including Respiratory, Diabetes, Infectious Disease, Renal and Intensive Care) to manage patients within our service.
Our department is at the forefront of Acute Medicine service development. We are supported by the largest Acute Medicine research team in the UK, based in the University of Birmingham, and a large number of secondary and tertiary specialists. We are using the above assets to develop new ways of front-door working and would value new colleagues with an interest or experience in quality improvement methodology. In addition, we are a University teaching hospital and support education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Our department includes an Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Short Stay ward as well as a Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC). Opportunities for teaching are available in our simulation suite and clinical skills area. Other areas of special interest are encouraged. The standard job plan is 10PA but less-than-full-time working is welcomed. The breakdown of job plans will be agreed with the successful candidates, using a standardised tool to ensure parity between colleagues.
