Consultant Hepatologist
Public Client, Essex
Full time - Permanent
Salary: £105,504 to £139,882


Spencer Clarke Group are searching for a Consultant Hepatologist to work with one of our public clients. The diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients with liver illnesses, such as cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and liver cancer, will be crucial tasks for a consultant hepatologist. To deliver the best possible treatment, you will collaborate closely with a diverse team, you will work full time over 5 days.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the clinical management of patients with a wide range of liver diseases, including cirrhosis, hepatitis, and liver cancer.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop comprehensive care plans along with performing liver-related diagnostic procedures, including liver biopsies, endoscopies, and ultrasound scans.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including registrars and fellows and engage in clinical research, audit activities, and the implementation of evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
  • Ensure that patients receive comprehensive care, from diagnosis through to long-term management, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
  • Provide education to patients, families, and the wider healthcare team on liver diseases and their management.

What we're looking for:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
  • Substantial experience in hepatology, particularly in the diagnosis and management of liver diseases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, along with excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based care and experience in academic teaching and clinical research would be advantageous.
