Central Integrated Health Community (IHC) are looking to recruit a Consultant Family & Systemic Psychotherapist for our Community and Tier 4 CAMHS Services.
Joining our team means you would become a key member of our leadership teams and our development network of Systemic Family Therapists across Children's Services.

Main duties of the job
The Consultant Family & Systemic Psychotherapist will work in partnership with the Clinical Director, Clinical Service Managers, Head of Child Psychology, Head of Nursing and Operational Managers to provide shared leadership, development and accountability for their area of service to ensure the service provides continuously improving high quality care for children, young people and families with mental health needs.
The post holder will carry a highly specialist clinical caseload of clients with complex and enduring need across Children's Services within Central IHC.
The post holder will provide the strategy, clinical standards and monitoring of standards. They will provide regional professional leadership and work with Bangor University to ensure that the service and workforce is developed.
The post holder will work in conjunction with the Senior Management Team to ensure services are delivered through networking with partner agencies and internal leadership teams.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Contributing to the strategic planning processes
- Work in partnership with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure services are provided within available resources
- Deliver direct clinical work within Children's Services across Central
- Provide professional supervision of systemic and family psychotherapists within Children's Services
- Provide leadership and influence at both a national and regional level
Person SpecificationQualifications & KnowledgeEssential- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field of mental health or social welfare and demonstrable practice in line with Mental Health Measure
- Masters Level qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy or equivalent qualification, accredited by
- Specialist and extensive knowledge of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy through doctorate level training or equivalent experience gained through Advanced Clinical Training in Supervision and Teaching of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy
- Additional training in specialised area of systemic practice through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent), OR a combination of specialist short courses, OR an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice, assessed by an experienced clinical supervisor to be of equal level to a Postgraduate Diploma
- Registered with UKCP as Systemic Psychotherapist and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the UKCP.
- Accredited by AFT to supervise qualified systemic and family psychotherapists.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in using the complete range of approaches within systemic practice as required to meet the needs of different patients and settings.
- Advanced level of knowledge of the mental health needs of children and adolescents.
- Ability to work within a culturally diverse community in a wide variety of contexts including highly specialist skills for working in settings outside the clinic.
- Advanced skills in the use of videotape and other multi-media materials suitable for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in providing consultation to other professionals and non-professional groups.
- Ability to take full clinical responsibility for patient care and treatment, both as a care coordinator and within the context of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Interpersonal skills of the highest level to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to convey complex and clinically sensitive information to family members of all ages and to a wide range of lay and professional persons, within and outside of the NHS.
- Knowledge of research design and methodology consistent with systemic practice to at least Masters level or equivalent.
- Knowledge of legislation and strategic frameworks and their implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the full range of client groups.
Desirable- A relevant management and leadership training / qualification.
ExperienceEssential- Post qualification experience as a systemic psychotherapist including substantial multi-disciplinary experience of working with children, adolescents, families and groups.
- Substantial experience of teaching and training systemic psychotherapy.
Desirable- Experience of representing a team or the profession at Health Board level or at a local policy forum.
- Experience of professional management of staff and/or managing budgets.
Skills & AttributesEssential- Ability to convey and to model a sophisticated understanding of the Association of Family Therapy code of ethics and practice guidelines in all areas of professional conduct.
- Physical stamina to support clinical caseload which requires intense concentration whilst sitting with client groups or in video screen rooms observing clients for prolonged periods.
- A commitment to the continuous improvement of services using feedback from individual clients, families, user surveys and clinical research.
- Emotional stamina and ability to respond constructively in highly stressful situations where individuals hold very different perspectives and there is a high level of distress, ambiguity and conflict.
- Ability to make clinical and service-related judgement involving highly complex facts requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of several options.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills and to articulate the value added by systemic psychotherapy services to multi-disciplinary work.
- Ability to plan and organise a broad range of complex clinical, or service related activities and programmes, some of which may be long term.
- Ability to demonstrate the personal qualities and professional competencies required of all managers and leaders in line with local competence frameworks as evidenced in day to day work and through discussion at PADR.
- Ability to use information technology and management skills using word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.
- Demonstrate high level of knowledge and/or training in other psychological therapies.
- Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
- Ability to identify and provide appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours.
- Ability to identify and employ as appropriate clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice.
- Demonstrate a commitment to respecting and displaying the Health Board Values at all times.
