Job Description

We are currently seeking a personable, enthusiastic, and energetic Consultant to join our specialist Cost Assurance team to assist our continuing growth and make the difference to both our business and our clients.

You will be a Consultant within our Ireland/European Advisory business working within our specialist Cost Assurance team to help review and scrutinise actual incurred cost and help drive supply chain improvement and efficiency for a range of major programmes and projects. The main purpose of the role is to deliver successful Cost Assurance commissions on behalf of Turner & Townsend.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work with a diverse team of backgrounds and skillsets, leading and aiding junior members to facilitate their development and growth.
  2. Input into the development of the service line by contributing to bids and business generation.
  3. Take a lead in the ongoing refinement of internal training and product management in relation to the service line.
  4. Review construction contractor systems, controls and processes to provide a view on their ways of working, using intelligence from around the industry to build a view on best practice.
  5. Analyze and understand complex construction contracts (NEC3/4/ICE Bespoke).
  6. Perform testing of data and information using smart techniques and tools such as data visualisation and trend/pattern analysis (PowerBI/Tableau).
  7. Produce written findings reports that deliver key findings, recommendations and messages in a succinct and professional manner.
  8. Review outputs intended for circulation to clients and provide feedback to colleagues, where relevant.
  9. Foster good quality working relationships with clients and those being reviewed built around trust and professionalism.
  10. Engage with the supply chain to take them on the journey of assurance and encourage collaboration at project/programme level.

Required Skills:
  1. Previous experience or a sound and suitable understanding of assurance or audit in a construction, commercial or accountancy setting.
  2. Understanding of construction industry technical matters such as different procurement routes, disallowed cost areas, target price setting, calculation of pain/gain amounts etc.
  3. Contract Management - NEC3/4 (Option C, E) preferred.
  4. Assessment of accuracy and entitlement to cost.
  5. Change management and forecast control.
  6. Data analysis - ability to review and draw insights from large quantities of data in various formats (PowerBI/Tableau experience preferred).
  7. Report writing - communicating complex messages succinctly to maximise impact in written formats.
  8. People and organisational management - experience of working in a team environment and handling a variable workload through peaks and troughs.
  9. Presentation skills - be a confident speaker who can influence and engage with a multitude of stakeholders.
  10. Professional scepticism - Can challenge in a professional and constructive way to safeguard the completion of our services, maintaining independence and integrity, ensuring consistent quality.

Qualifications:
  1. Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  2. Holds or working towards an appropriate professional body membership or equivalent (i.e. MRICS, ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.).

Experience:

Successful candidates will have at least 7 years relevant experience gained in practice or industry. Candidates will need to demonstrate practical experience of open book / cost reimbursable contracts (NEC3/4, FIDIC, IChemE, etc).
