The thriving towns of Poole, Bournemouth, and Christchurch give way to idyllic villages and unspoilt landscapes just minutes from our hospitals.

We believe that having a diverse workforce, and allowing people to be themselves, is essential in ensuring we offer an inclusive, welcoming, and productive place to work. We especially welcome applications from minority groups in the community who may be underrepresented in our workforce.

Job Overview
It is an exciting time to join the University Hospitals Dorset as there are several new developments including the creation of a new state-of-the-art clinical laboratory, the One Dorset Pathology (ODP) hub, and future alignment with laboratories within the Southern Counties Pathology Network. The transformation of the hospitals in the region has already seen a new LIMS installation across the networked sites in Dorset and standardised equipment procurement. With this will come the need for reconfiguration of pathology services to which you will have the opportunity to contribute.

The candidate will be joining a One Dorset Pathology (ODP) Clinical Biochemistry team comprising of one medical consultant, one consultant clinical lead clinical scientist, two principal clinical scientists, and one senior clinical scientist. The post holder will be expected to help provide, and develop as necessary, a comprehensive Clinical Biochemistry laboratory for ODP.

Base location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The successful post holder will support the clinical lead maintaining general laboratory service provision and quality assurance management, whilst further developing the protein electrophoresis service. The new incumbent will also work alongside the clinical lead to support training pre and post-registration trainees. The candidate may wish to contribute to the recently accredited BSc Biomedical Science course at the University of Bournemouth and there are plans in development to form a Medical School and MSc Biomedical Science course.
