Job description

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic consultant radiologist with specialist training in breast imaging to join our breast radiology team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. This is a full-time (10 PA's) role under the new consultant contract, with part-time options available.

You will work alongside eight consultant breast radiologists, three advanced practitioners, and one trainee consultant, providing symptomatic and screening services to the local population. The role includes diagnostic and procedural work, with the option for On Call commitments and up to 2PA's of non-breast/general radiology. Resident training and education are core activities within the team.

We offer a full range of imaging and biopsy services, including digital breast tomosynthesis, vacuum-assisted biopsy, excision, and MRI-guided biopsy. Screening is provided through the Southampton and Salisbury Breast Screening Unit. A family history clinic, supported by the regional genetics service, provides high and moderate-risk screening.

The hospital is a major teaching centre, home to the Wessex Radiology Training Scheme, and a key referral centre for specialist services, including intestinal failure and recurrent pelvic cancer surgery.
